I’m craving summer.
I don’t know about you, dear readers, but here in Boston it’s still pretty far from it. It’s getting sunny, yes, barely hitting the 60s, maybe, but my pale sunlight-deprived wintry self is wanting MORE!

Here is how you can fast-forward your style:

1. My favorite spring trend is the trench coat. This year you can find them anywhere - from Target to Bebe, from cotton to waterproof microfiber. Find one that fits you - make sure the belt falls right on your natural waist, tie it up and you’re ready to go. So much to play with here: you can wear it with jeans or dresses, with a colorful silk scarf or without, with boots or sandals. Trench coat - in beige, pink or white - is your best way to stylishly enter the warmer season.

2. Knee-length shorts. Shorts this season got serious, and even work-appropriate. My favorite pair - OK, my only pair - comes from Express - it’s a shorter version of their “editor” pants. You can wear them with tall boots or open-toe pumps. Long chain-and-beads necklaces add a feminine touch.

3. Go ahead and bring up your summer wardrobe! You can pair up the flowy prairie skirts from last summer with cowboy boots for a seasonal twist.

4. JUST SAY NO BLACK. Yes, I do read magazines, and I do hear how black is the new black, but come’on people, just lay off the darkness for a month, will ya?

5. Strappy summer sandals + opaque winter tights = fabulous look for spring.

6. Rock the nautical look. Bring in reds, whites and blues. Unless you’re Sienna Miller, keep the stripes to one piece - a shirt, perhaps.

7. Fake the glow. Generally faking things is not my scene, but as fair-skinned as I am, nature hasn’t left me with much of a choice. Exfoliate beforehand, let the skin cool off after the shower, apply the lotion in an upward motion using the wide side of your palm to minimize streaks. Hang out naked for the next 20 minutes or so. Moisturize daily. I use L’Oreal Sublime Bronze with bronzer - so that I can see where i’m putting it. Be careful with wearing white before your first shower - the bronzer stains a little.
